Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a therapy of East Asian origin dating back more than 2,500 years. It involves inserting thin, single-use, sterile needles into the skin to balance energy, promote healing, and prevent disease. Many studies have shown that acupuncture provides a wide range of health benefits and can be utilized as a stand alone therapy, or as an adjunct to other forms of treatment. This form of medicine treats the whole system rather than its individual parts, harnessing the existing energy (Qi) to assist the body in healing itself. This energy is accessed via acupuncture points located on meridians and evokes a natural healing response through various physiological systems.
At Serenity, our acupuncturists also use other Traditional Chinese Medicine healing techniques such as electroacupuncture, auriculotherapy, fire cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, infrared heat therapy, and Chinese dietary therapy.
Celluma Phototherapy
Phototherapy, also known as light therapy or low-level light therapy, is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits for a variety of conditions including skin health, pain, fertility, and tissue repair. The absorbed energy is then used to improve cellular performance. Light therapy can be delivered through light emitting diode (LEDs) devices or cold LASERs, and has a variety of applications across many medical fields.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Over a span of 5,000 years, China has established the world's most extensive pharmacopoeia of medicinal herbs. Through empirical knowledge of nature, practical application, and gradual reasoning based on experience, a system of herbal medicine has evolved that is as highly developed as Western medicinal science. Herbs can act on the body as powerfully as pharmaceutical drugs and should be treated with the same caution and respect; therefore, Serenity's herbalists are NCCAOM board certified in Chinese Herbology and posses extensive knowledge on the use of Chinese herbs. At Serenity, you can be sure that you are receiving the highest quality, cruelty-free herbs available on the market. We take pride in carefully selecting the purest herbal formulas from producers whose products are made in facilities that are in accordance with cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices).
Chiropractic
Chiropractic Medicine is a unique form of health care that focuses on dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems and the subsequent effects on general health. Doctors of Chiropractic Medicine assess the body and correct structural abnormalities to create the conditions for health: full, pain free, biomechanics. Chiropractors help a wide array of conditions from back and nerve pain to migraine headaches, as well as every stage of life: pediatrics to geriatrics. Chiropractors use a multitude of modalities but are best known for the adjustment, or manipulation: a gentle, precise, quick thrust to a joint which helps restore pain free range of motion. However, Chiropractors understand that an adjustment is not appropriate in all cases, which is why there is so much more to a Chiropractic appointment than just an adjustment. We take the time to evaluate your specific conditions and frequently use a combination of soft tissue treatments in addition to any manipulation of the skeletal system.
Craniosacral Therapy
Each of our bodies has an innate ability to heal; sometimes we just need a little assistance. An exceptionally gentle therapeutic discipline, a CranioSacral Therapist takes time to tune in to a body’s tissues, allowing for the body to reveal the map for self-correction and healing to occur. CranioSacral Therapy gently assesses and facilitates optimal body functioning, using a soft touch, generally no greater than 5 grams, to release restrictions in the craniosacral system. CST’s ability to clear the way for innate healing processes means that it’s increasingly used for preventative health or to gently coax the body back to vitality.

Holistic Health Coaching
Please note: if you reside outside the state of Illinois, where our physicians hold their medical licenses, they cannot act as your physician. As an alternative, virtual Holistic Health Coaching is available to you with any of our naturopaths.
Massage Therapy
Our licensed massage therapists are trained in a variety of techniques and will use whatever modality is most appropriate for you at that moment. This can mean that multiple techniques could be used during a single appointment. Our goal is to meet you where you're at, ensuring we use the most effective approach for all areas of your body to create a truly customized massage experience.
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine combines the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. With the goal of getting to the root cause of health issues, Naturopathic Doctors look at the body as interrelated systems and work to identify where breakdowns are occurring. Providing effective, appropriate, and gentle health care, naturopathic therapies encourage the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Healing modalities may include botanical medicines, natural supplementation, diet and nutritional counseling, homeopathy and naturopathic counseling, while leveraging complementary Serenity treatments when appropriate. We see the naturopathic approach as a partnership and believe healing begins with being heard.
Reiki
Reiki means "universal life energy." It's an ancient healing method that manipulates energy flow in the body. Reiki practitioners believe there is an energy force in and around the body. They believe that there is a flow of energy between the reiki practitioner and the receiver of the treatment. A Reiki practitioner gently moves their hands just above or on the client’s clothed body, with the intention of reducing stress and promoting healing by encouraging a healthy flow of energy.
Although reiki isn’t a cure for any specific ailment, it has been used along with Western medicine to help patients suffering from cancer, Parkinson’s disease, long Covid, and other health conditions. These days, reiki therapy is widely available at respected medical centers and hospitals including the Mayo Clinic, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and the Cleveland Clinic.
